Tip of the month

Build your relationships: no matter what size of organisation you are, invest time in engaging directly with funders. Use opportunities like roadshows to introduce yourself, and if trusts and foundations offer the opportunity for a phone discussion, always take them up on it. If the funding situation doesn’t allow you to talk directly to the funder (eg. because of a formal tender), think about how else you can influence (eg. through press articles they might read).

Having been in a busy role as Director of Business Development for a social enterprise for many years, I identified a need for reliable, high quality support with income generation and bid-writing.

In 2014, I set up Rockit Funding and since then have been lucky enough to work with a range of not-for-profit organisations, from large charities like Teach First to small charities looking to scale up.

Clients consistently appreciate the compassionate, tailored support they receive. Since April 2014, we've helped clients to secure more than £200m from funders including government departments, trusts and foundations.
